Context
A long-running program for a utility-data client in Germany, mapping underground infrastructure from multiple national and regional survey portals.
The challenge
Utility records arrive as legacy scans and CAD drawings in many formats. They have to become clean, attributed GIS layers in the client's schema, consistently across portals and network types.
Approach
- Georeferenced legacy scans and CAD drawings to national grids
- Vectorized and attributed networks (water, power, gas, telecom, district heating) to the client's cadastre schema
- Cross-portal QA with automated topology checks, using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Python ETL and PostGIS
Results
- Multi-year, ongoing delivery across five utility network types
- Schema-ready vector layers with automated topology QA
